One Houston restaurant emerges as a presidential favorite as Barack Obama's ownvisit approaches
George H.W. Bush might have been known for his long-time love of Otto's Barbecue — the president even paid a visit to the Memorial mainstay right before it closed in 2010 — but it looks like his real weakness is Tex-Mex.
Bush was recently sighted at Armandos, and he was among the first customers at the new Molina's Cantina in Bellaire, dining in on the first day of business, despite torrential rains.
Now granddaughters Barbara and Jenna Bush have confessed to KPRC anchor Dominique Sachse that Tex-Mex, particularly Molina's, is their favorite indulgence when they come to Houston — a favorite they share with their grandparents. It looks like their tastes are more classic than that of their dad George W. Bush, who says he heard about the death of Osama bin Laden while eating at Dallas souffle restaurant Rise No. 1.
Does this mean we can look for a George's Dip at Molina's sometime soon? With Barack Obama coming to Houston on Friday will another local restaurant get a major Democratic seal of approval?
I guess we'll see.
