Airport dining suddenly got cool: Reef team opening a new IAH restaurant with celeb chef power
Does a Reef by any other name taste as sweet? Though Bill Floyd and chef Bryan Caswell had to do some fancy footwork with the wording, they think they landed on the perfect name for their new eatery in George Bush Intercontinental Airport's Terminal B.
Say hello to 3rd Bar Eating House from the proprietors of Reef. It's a mouthful, Floyd tells CultureMap, but it fully encompasses the concept.
Floyd anticipates an April 1 opening for the restaurant.
The 142-seat restaurant will be open every day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering a breakfast reminiscent of the pair's El Real Tex-Mex Cafe, with sliders a la Little Bigs on the lunch menu alongside fresh seafood, and a "more Reef-oriented" dinner — and all at a price point that's refreshingly reasonable for airport fare.
The Terminal B restaurant, which has been in the works for more than a year, has meant a lot of hoops for the Houston restaurateurs, with considerations of TSA guidelines in hiring wait staff and leaving the contracting work up to airport partners.
Floyd anticipates an April 1 opening for the restaurant (which will open near The Frutería — Botanero, Johnny Hernandez's recently revealed airport concept). Expect bar, booth and table seating, plus plenty of on-the-run items.
