We knew about it first
We ♥ Hou because Saint Arnold's celebrity brew is simply our hometown memorybeer
Saint Arnold Amber is, arguably, the perfect beer.
To borrow a line from Will Ferrell's aging frat boy character in Old School, it just "tastes so good once it hits your lips."
The flagship product of Houston's own Saint Arnold Brewing Company, it's won a string of awards since its debut. They tell me it hasn't changed a lick since 1994 (thought I was hardly of drinking age, then) and the beer even has a cameo in Miss Congeniality.
Any rightful Houstonian (whether by birth or by luck) can tie their more monumental memories to a pint of Amber Ale. I had an Amber in hand for my first venture into Eado; it was the sip that got me into craft beer; and it was the fuel of my first float trip.
It's exploded now, to be sure — but I don't care about its fame or growing fortune, I just like the way it tastes.
