Beyoncé's Sexy Shout-Out
Red Lobster sales spike after Beyoncé's sexy shout-out to restaurant chain in new song
It pays to have Beyoncé name drop your establishment in a song.
Sales at Red Lobster are up a whopping 33 percent since the superstar singer gave the moderately-priced seafood chain an explicity-sexy shout-out on her new song, "Formation," which was released on Saturday and featured prominently at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday.
Red Lobster told CNN Money that the brand trended on social media for the first time in its history and was mentioned on Twitter 42,000 times in a single hour.
The new song, the singer's first to be released since 2014, addresses police brutality, Hurricane Katrina, black culture in America and female empowerment, suggesting Red Lobster's food is a reward for good sex. The explicit lyrics are, “When he fuck me good I take his ass to Red Lobster, cause I slay."
The chain, which no doubt had its best weekend in history, was grateful. It tweeted:
You definitely slay, @Beyonce. Thanks for one heck of a weekend. https://t.co/7IJfyl76k5
