Bucket List Burger
Popular downtown steakhouse adds weekday lunch with bucket-list bacon cheesburger on menu
Soon, every day will be burger Friday. Popular downtown steakhouse Vic & Anthony's announced on Tuesday that it will begin serving lunch Monday through Friday starting February 1.
The restaurant has served lunch on Fridays since 2003, and downtown executives have filled the dining room every week since to get their fill of V&A staples like crab cakes and a burger that's otherwise only available in the bar. Now those dishes, as well as new salads, sandwiches and "chef features," will be available every day.
Although its been a while since the steakhouse regularly ran special one-off burgers like a patty topped with homemade scrapple or a lamb burger named after local blogger Nishta Mehra, the standard offering is a substantial bacon cheeseburger that should be on every dining enthusiast's Houston burger bucket list. Certainly, it will make an appropriate reward for anyone who's skipping work after being dismissed from jury duty at the nearby courthouses.
The decision to add weekday lunch comes at a time when downtown's restaurant landscape is shifting. Pappas Bros. recently opened an expansive new steakhouse in the shops at Houston Center. Closer to Vic & Anthony's, Astros owner Jim Crane will open two Italian restaurants in the 500 Crawford apartment building that will be operated by Reef parters Bill Floyd and Bryan Caswell.
