Hey Bartender
Mix it up this year with hip Houston hotel's cocktail classes
Was one of your goals for 2019 to learn a new skill? If so, it doesn't get much cooler — or more useful — than knowing your way around a cocktail kit. And who better to learn some seriously impressive bartending skills from then the experts at Lucienne, the upscale Mediterranean restaurant inside the Hotel Alessandra?
Through March, the elegant and award-winning hotel is introducing Saturday mixology classes, with a different theme each month.
January is all about gin, with Alkkemist and Gabriel Boudier gins serving as the base for three different cocktail recipes. Learn how to make a classic martini, mix up a Spanish gin and tonic, and sweeten any cocktail hour with the Bee's Knees. Chef Jose Hernandez will be pairing the drinks with a menu of light bites, including smoked salmon, tuna tartare, mimosa eggs, and crab cakes.
Love is in the air for February, as the spirits of Valentine's Day (the cherry liqueur Agricanto Paladin and chocolate liqueur Bouvery CV) are joined by an assortment of miniature desserts from chef Hernandez.
A selection of Gabriel Boudier liquors provides the inspiration for March.
All classes are held from 3-4:30 pm in Lucienne, and attendees must be 21 or older to book and participate. Each class is limited to only eight people. The pre-paid cost is $65 per person plus tax, and all classes are nonrefundable.
