OKRA's first Montrose March brings back the Money Cat brunch
Back in November when some of Montrose's best restaurant and bar owners founded OKRA, an Organized Kollaboration on Restaurant Affairs, we knew good things were to come. So it's no surprise that even the fundraisers are going to be special, sought-after events.
OKRA's first event has been dubbed the "Montrose March" and will take place on Sunday. Taking a break from work on the upcoming Oxheart, Justin Yu and company are bringing back the revered Money Cat brunch, whose run at Umai ended in late December. Money Cat chefs and collaborators Yu, Justin Vann, Ecky Parabanto, and David Buehrer will be getting back together, this time inside the loop at Paulie's from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — or until the food runs out, which it will.
After brunch is over, attendees are encouraged to walk to either Poison Girl or Anvil, where all drink sales from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. will go to support OKRA and by extension the independent restaurants, bars, and other branches of the food industry in Houston.
