River Oaks Whole Foods Market adds craft beer and wine bar
Upper Kirby has a new craft beer and wine bar inside the Whole Foods at Kirby and West Alabama. As with similar facilities inside the Montrose and Katy locations, Kirbside, as its been dubbed, will serve craft beer and wine for Whole Foods shoppers to enjoy while they forage the aisles for the latest in organic quinoa and cruelty free dish soap.
Kirbside, which has been built using reclaimed wood, is the 95th Whole Foods bar. To celebrate the opening, tonight (Jan. 3) from 6 to 8 p.m. the bar is hosting a Karbach tap takeover featuring three of the local brewer's seasonal offerings (Yule Shoot Your Eye Out, Krunkin Pumpkin and Pontificator), three of the barrel aged F.U.N. series brews (003, 007 and 008) and two year-round brews that will be a surprise. Proceeds from pint sales will benefit the Houston Zoo, and prizes will be awarded to some of attendees.
Moving forward, Kirbside will offer a number of daily specials: On Monday night slice of pizza and a pint for $5, $3 pints and $4 wines on Wednesday, $3 local pints on Friday and $3 mimosas on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. If all of a sudden River Oaks dads show a sudden willingness to give moms a break from the weekly grocery shopping, here's why.
