More healthcare in the suburbs: Pearland gets new medical center
HCA Gulf Coast Division has announced plans to build a 30-bed, acute care hospital in Pearland on the same 48-acre site currently home to a 24-hour emergency department, an imaging center and a three-story medical office building.
The new Pearland Medical Center will dedicate 144,000 square feet to surgical suites, medical and surgical beds, intensive care beds, an emergency department and an imaging department that includes MRI and CT capabilities, plus a catheterization lab, echocardiogram testing and nuclear medicine modalities, plus women's health services that include digital mammography, labor and delivery suites, C-section operating rooms and a newborn nursery.
Look out, Texas Medical Center.
The $71 million project will break ground in 2013 and is slated for late 2014 completion, with a design that foresees future community growth.
"HCA Gulf Coast Division is delivering the right care at the right time to our residents in their own neighborhood," said Tom Reid, mayor of Pearland, in a statement. "HCA is fulfilling a need to provide people with highly technological, high quality healthcare within the community."
