Stylish downtown Houston hotel books major national design award
Downtown’s Hotel Alessandramade a local splash when it opened a year ago, and now, it could make major international waves for its stylish design.
The Alessandra recently won the coveted Five-Star Best Hotel Interior Texas at the International Property Awards’ USA Property Awards regional competition in Toronto at the during the IPAX USA & Americas global exhibition. From there, Hotel Alessandra — one of four regional finalists — will progress to the international awards with "World’s Best" winners selected in London on December 3.
Known as the largest, most prestigious, and widely recognized program of their kind, The USA Property Awards recognize properties for design, quality, service, innovation, originality, and commitment to sustainability, according to a release. Judging is determined by an independent panel of 80 industry experts, led by Lord Caithness, Lord Best, The Earl of Liverpool, and Lord Thurso — all members of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament.
The best interior award isn’t the Alessandra’s only honor: The hotel was named a finalist for the SBID International Design Awards in the "Hotel Public Space Design" category. The hotel will now compete against 20 other hospitality projects for the top spot. Winners will be announced on October 26 at an awards ceremony in London.
The Alessandra is designed by the San Francisco office of Gensler, with interiors designed by internationally acclaimed Rottet Studio. The international recognition means local bragging rights for the hotel’s Houston-based operator and developer team, Valencia Group and Midway.
