Starwood's Aloft flies high over Texas with new hotels, including several in the Houston area
As part of a statewide expansion, up to 10 new Aloft Hotels — a brand owned and operated by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide — are planned across Texas, including as many as four new Houston-area locations.
Aloft Hotels, known for modern design, loft-like rooms and high-tech features, is expanding its presence from seven to as many as 17 hotels in the Lone Star State. Houston-area residents can expect new locations downtown, in the Energy Corridor and near The Woodlands. The chain also plans two additional locations in Austin, three in Dallas-Fort Worth and one in College Station. Starwood expects to have the new Texas locations open by 2018.
Slated to open in 2016, Aloft Houston Downtown will be located in the renovated Stowers Furniture Building at 820 Fannin.
In additon, developers of the historic Imperial Sugar property in Sugar Land announced plans for a 120-room Aloft Hotel as part of a mixed-use complex, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle. Starwood has not confirmed the Sugar Land location.
Slated to open in 2016, Aloft Houston Downtown will be located in the renovated Stowers Furniture Building at 820 Fannin — constructed in 1913 — and will feature 165 rooms, 2,000 square feet of meeting space and a roof-top pool. Set to open in 2017, the Energy Corridor location near Interstate 10 and Barker Cypress, called Aloft Houston West, will showcase 117 rooms and 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
Although there is no specific address for the location yet, Aloft Shenandoah — scheduled to open in 2018 — will be located on Interstate 45 northbound near The Woodlands.
Aloft College Station, set to open September 10, will be the first of the new locations to open in Texas.
The brand presently operates Aloft Austin at The Domain, Aloft Dallas Downtown, Aloft Frisco, Aloft Las Colinas, Aloft Plano and Aloft San Antonio Airport, as well as Aloft Houston by the Galleria at 5415 Westheimer. Aloft currently has 100 hotels in 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Australia and India.
