A $6.7 Million Party House
A $6.7 million party house? Six bedrooms, a Zen vibe and not your ordinary design up the cool factor
Editor's Note: Houston is loaded with must-have houses for sale in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. In this continuing series, we snoop through some of our faves and give you the lowdown on what's hot on the market.
Some say that builders don't construct houses with the same meant-to-last care that they used to, but one home recently listed in Bunker Hill Village seems an exception to that rule.
The 13,984-square-foot residence at 406 Flintdale Rd. was completed in 2007 by Houston builder John Bass. Margie Slovack — Bass' wife, and the other half of design-build team Slovack Bass — completed the interior of the six-bedroom home.
"It is, by far, one of the coolest houses I have ever stepped foot in," listing agent Sissy Lappin of Lappin Properties says. "There is such a trend for this type of contemporary design and it seems that it's becoming more popular, although there are still very few in the Houston area."
Lappin assures that the current homeowner's three boys have proven that it's a "great party house."
Lappin has worked in real estate in the Bayou City for more than 25 years. "Good design has always been something Houston has lacked and it is so great to see our city change so drastically in architecture and taste," she says.
But despite the high design and overall Zen vibe, Lappin assures that the current homeowner's three boys have proven that it's a "great party house" — just take a look at the outdoor basketball court and the well-appointed game room.
Other amenities include an in-ground pool with an outdoor kitchen and patio, a detached garage apartment and an enclosed atrium off of the master bathroom. The property was put on the market in late May with an original list price of $6.799 million.
