BLVD Place drama: New healthy restaurant moving in, but sexy seafood place opts for Beverly Hills instead
Construction on the second phase of BLVD Place is well underway at Post Oak Boulevard and San Felipe, and news of the first restaurant tenant in the Whole Foods-anchored development has been announced.
True Food Kitchen, an endeavor from Fox Restaurant Concepts based on Dr. Andrew Weil's anti-inflammatory diet, is slated to open next spring.
The restaurant's menu features globally-inspired cuisine made using seasonal local and regional ingredients with the intention of making diners "feel better, live longer, and [making mouths] happy in the process."
This is just one of "three or four restaurants" that Ed Wulfe, chairman and CEO of Wulfe & Co., plans to draw to the mixed-use development.
Wulfe told CultureMap in October that the company was negotiating with "a series of two or three important restaurants" not already in Houston for the 109,000-plus-square-feet of restaurant and retail space.
According to a CultureMap tipster, the "awesome sexy steak/seafood chain" Ocean Prime was another one. The Cameron Mitchell Restaurants chain allegedly looked at the Galleria-area property for its Houston expansion, but "BLVD Place couldn't get its construction act together and Ocean Prime pulled out, opting to open its Beverly Hills location before Houston."
