River Oaks gets a new 17-story luxury tower as the Houston apartment onslaught continues
Yet another luxury midrise apartment project has broken ground in Houston. This one — Azalea Court — is in the River Oaks area.
Located at the corner of Westheimer and Mid Lane, the 11.2 acre, eight-story complex is slated to open in June 2015. The midrise will feature 645 apartments in a 17-story tower.
The apartments are only the first part of a mixed-use development, just like so many of Houston's most recent apartment projects, including Hanover's recently opened Rice Village development and the Galleria-area's BLVD Place.
Azalea Court was designed by Memphis-based architecture firm, Looney Ricks Kiss Inc., according to the Business Journal. The project is being co-developed by Dallas-based StreetLights Residential — the project's general contractor — and Austin's Stonelake Capital Partners. Stonelake purchased the land in 2012, intending to use it for a mixed-use development all along.
