Houston's newest over-the-top wedding amenity: A personal weather concierge
Rain is good luck on your wedding day, says everyone who’s never had rain on their wedding day. It also delays travel, stalls set-up, ruins outdoor plans, and muddies your expensive white dress.
Enter MyRadar’snew meteorological wedding planning service, available now in Houston and across the United States and Canada. The app with 15 million active users has introduced a bespoke service to help couples plan their perfect wedding day or honeymoon — at least weather-wise.
That’s right, we’re talking a weather concierge — personalized assistance from a dedicated meteorologist. Put down that Farmer’s Almanac and tap an app for a direct line to God a weather forecaster.
"Many of us have worried about the weather on a wedding day, whether it's our own, or especially if you work in the industry," says MyRadar's Director of Video & Social Media Content Mike Linden in a release. "With tailored meteorological services, brides and grooms, their guests, and vendors can all be better prepared for the weather on whatever day they choose. While we can't guarantee a sunny day, we can make sure you're covered with the weather guidance and forecasts you'll need."
As with pretty much any wedding amenity, it doesn't come cheap. The service is offered in three tiered packages at three prices — Silver ($999), Gold ($1,299), and Platinum ($4,999).
As outlined in the release, each package includes:
- Concierge services with a dedicated wedding team, including a personalized introduction video from a couple’s dedicated meteorologist.
- A one-on-one meeting with the couple’s meteorologist ahead of their wedding day.
- Historical weather breakdown and analysis reporting for multiple dates.
- Custom forecast videos in the days ahead of the couple’s wedding.
- A final, hyperlocal forecast video on the wedding day.
- On-call options as needed for real-time updates during the wedding.
The packages and pricing vary depending on the frequency of the services offered. Also, Gold and Platinum customers get their choice of the company’s meteorologists; Silver customers get one based on location and availability, the website says.
A starter package, at a more down-to-earth $99, offers a historical weather breakdown and an analysis of the couple’s selected wedding date, prepared by the MyRadar weather team. The release suggests this might be a nice engagement or bridal shower gift (hint, hint to the maid of honor).
There also are à la carte options available, including honeymoon forecasts, an on-site meteorologist, and emergency calls for urgent weather consultations. Not included: The cost of canceling the wedding if your personal meteorologist tells you the hurricane of the century will make landfall the moment you cut your cake.
According to the website, the company has five experienced meteorologists available, two of whom are bilingual.
“Every bride deserves the perfect wedding day, which includes perfect weather," says Linden. "From date and venue selection, to if you should rent a tent or encourage your guests to dress warm, MyRadar's dedicated team of meteorologists can provide their expertise, advice, and peace of mind."
