Get Fit
A personal trainer in your pocket: Nike Training Club will transform yourworkout
It's summertime and people are heading to the gym to work on that bikini bod. But this year I am not one of those people.
Without time for the gym, I could feel myself getting lazy. But that changed when I discovered the Nike Training Club app.
Looking for workout programs for my iPhone, I stumbled upon this free app and I didn't really check it out before I downloaded it. Even though I didn't think about what I was putting on my phone, it was one of the best fitness decisions I've made.
The Nike app has to be one of the best things ever invented, with everything you need to get fit at your fingertips. It's like having your own personal trainer available anytime, anywhere. You can get fit with more than 85 custom-built workouts that range from a 15-minute targeted workout to full-body programs that last 30 or 45 minutes. There are 130 drills (don't worry, NTC gives detailed instructions for each) so there's no repetition or boredom.
Users can select their goal and skill level, with programs divided into lean (cardio moves to help users shed pounds), toned (light weights to define muscles) and strong (exercises to build strength).
The workouts occasionally call for a jump rope, hand weights or a medicine ball, but in it's most basic form all you need is an iPhone or iPad (sorry, Android users) and somewhere to move around.
But that's not all. By logging minutes, users can earn prizes and unlock exclusive workouts from celebrities like Glee's Lea Michele, professional athletes including Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and soccer star Hope Solo and Rihanna’s personal trainer, Ary Nuñez. You can even set the workout to your music on your phone.
Nike Training Club has definitely saved me from my summer laziness — I can finally get back in shape without leaving my house. With its high-tech features to help you get the workout you need, Nike Training Club is one of the best apps around.
