Blue Bell unveils a new ice cream flavor with a serious spring break twist
That famous little creamery just up the road in Brenham is celebrating spring break with a new sea-inspired creamy creation.
Available only during March, Blue Bell introduces a little bit of sweet and a little bit of salt with Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream, a blend of its traditional vanilla ice cream surrounded by a salted caramel sauce swirl.
"The concept of using sea salt is a big trend everywhere in the food industry right now," Christy Moran, research and development manager for Blue Bell, said in a statement. "It was definitely something we wanted to try."
Moran says that Sea Salt Caramel includes no other ingredients than the ice cream and salted caramel.
In addition to the sea salt concoction, Blue Bell is stocking Butter Crunch Ice Cream in store freezers this month for lovers of candy-inspired goodness. Butter Crunch is also based on the company's vanilla sensation and then loaded with chunks of crunchy chocolate peanut butter candy.
Earlier this month, Blue Bell expanded its distribution to Las Vegas to meet demand from one of our neighbors to the west. The self-dubbed "best ice cream in the country" is driven to grocery stores located there from a new 12,000-square-foot distribution center near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
