    Gabi De la Rosa
    May 2, 2024 | 10:00 am

May in Houston is buzzing with society parties, graduations, Mother's Day, and brunches galore (after all, patio weather as we know it is about to end). With so many events to get ready for, the shopping scene has stepped up to the plate, offering everything from fun pop-ups to designer collaborations and so much more.

We've gathered the most exciting May debuts, Spring/Summer collections, and Mother's Day gift-giving opportunities to make shopping this month in the Bayou City easy and fun.

    Adam Lippes
Adam Lippes is opening his first boutique outside New York City this month in River Oaks District. Known for his elegance and understated aesthetic, Adam Lippes' designs for SS2024 feature delicate florals, knits, and tons of texture.

    Another Tomorrow
Another Tomorrow, a B-Corp Certified leader in sustainable luxury, just launched their Spring/Summer 2024 Collection at Tootsies. A-list celebrities such as Julianne Moore, Angelina Joie, Katie Holmes, Meghan Markle, and others love the chartreuse suiting and organic linen featured in the collection.

    Chloe Dao
Houston designer Chloe Dao is hosting an in-store movie screening of Dead Poets Society, the movie that inspired her to seize the day and begin her fashion career. Fashionistas are invited to RSVP for a fun night at Dao's M-K-T Boutique.

    Christy Lynn Collection
Curate the perfect summer wardrobe at Moreau Paris. The French-inspired boutique will host Christy Lynn for a pop-up on May 10 and 11. Shoppers can enjoy the debut of Christy Lynn's High Summer Collection, cocktails, gifts with purchase, and more.

    City Boots
The luxury Western bootmaker recently launched its first-ever kids' collection for the mini cowboys and cowgirls in our lives. The collection includes mini versions of its best-selling adult boot styles, including the Scarlett, Rebecca, and Maverick. These cute kicks, available at City Boots' Houston boutique, will make for a perfect matching Mother's Day moment.

    Hope Farms
Get inspired for Mother's Day with a free floral class with Flower Child at Hope Farms. The class will allow participants to celebrate creativity, community, and, of course, Moms. The event is free, but registration is required.

    Katie Kime
Katie Kime, the Texas-based designer known for a punchy color palette and custom prints, has partnered with beautifully curated children's e-commerce destination Maisonette on a capsule collection of Mama & Me pajamas. Just in time for Mother's Day, the collection is available on the Katie Kime website. The PJs come in a yellow candy stripe print for Mama and a blue or yellow candy stripe for the kids.

    Kendra Scott x LoveShackFancy
Kendra Scott recently dropped its latest collaboration, this time with brand LoveShackFancy. The limited-edition six-piece capsule collection shares a love of romantic styling and is designed to add a pop of everyday joy to jewelry boxes everywhere.

    Lafayette 148
Located in the Galleria, Lafayette 148 has launched "The White Shirt Project," celebrating its signature icon — the perfect white shirt — with two initiatives in partnership with celebrity stylist Petra Flannery. One is "Lettered by L148," a white shirt custom monogramming service perfect for Mother's Day gifts, and the second is "The White Shirt Style Guide," a photography-and-video series that showcases the versatility of six Lafayette 148 white shirt designs.

    Léránt
May is full of celebrations, and this Galleria-area boutique has everything for moms, grads, birthdays, and more. Sip and shop on Wednesday, May 8, from 11 am to 3 pm, when the entire store will be 15 percent off. Complimentary gift wrapping and wine will be available.

    Melissa
Brazilian shoe brand Melissa, maker of the jelly sandal, is opening its first Houston store at Baybrook Mall. The store will feature Melissa's iconic footwear collection and the brand's collaborations with designers Marc Jacobs, Telfar, and Y-Project.

    Zadok Jewelers
Post Oak jewelry store Zadok Jewelers is having a busy month with pop-ups from Parisian luxury jeweler Dinh Vanh and buzz-worthy cocktails from Houston-based Queen Bee Distilling. Shoppers can also meet brand representatives, shop extended collections, and view the newest styles from several brands, including JB Star, Mikimoto, Nouvel Heritage, Pasquale Bruni, and Roberto Coin. In time for Mother's Day, guests can snack on chocolate from Mostly Chocolate or pick up a treat or two for their mom. More information, including dates and times, is available here.

    HOUSTON HYPE

Houston artist's stunning poster scores in new World Cup merch drop

Houston designer Stephanie Leal brings Space City pride to the global stage as the artist behind the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Houston Host City poster.

Houston, it’s time to dress like the hostess with the mostess. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, FIFA recently launched its exclusive Houston Host City merchandise collection. The drop is now available online, giving Houstonians an early chance to show off their city pride.

The collection features a vibrant blue-and-gold palette and leans into Houston’s identity through “26 Houston” graphics. The official Houston pattern was inspired by the themes of space, speed, stars, and exploration. Fans can purchase adult and youth t-shirts, hoodies, and accessories, including caps, hat pins, magnets, and a themed water bottle, priced from $12 to $100.

One of the highlights of the collection is the “Dare to Dream” poster, created by Houston-based artist Stephanie Leal. The artwork features an astronaut named Orion with the World Cup trophy reflected in the helmet visor. The astronaut flashes the Houston “H” hand sign with a soccer ball, the Houston skyline, and a cowboy hat are also incorporated as elements most beloved about both the game and the city.

Leal, a full-time brand designer and creative, went into the project, overseen by Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, with a lot of intention. “I spent the first week focused specifically on research, sketching, and refining how to thoughtfully represent FIFA, Texas, and Houston,” Leal tells CultureMap. “Because I was raised in Houston, many of the ideas came naturally, but I was very intentional about how each symbol was placed and what it represented. I did not want anything to feel random or purely decorative. Every element had to reflect our pride, innovation, and authentic energy.”

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, and raised in Houston from the age of eight, Leal grew up immersed in the sport's culture on both sides of the border. “The culture, diversity, and love for fútbol in both my hometown and Houston inspire so much of my work,” she says.

The “Dare to Dream” poster was the result of a month-long process from research to final digital touches. “I worked on it during long nights after my full-time job, pouring everything I had into making sure it felt right,” she says.

She hasn't seen someone wearing the design "in the wild," but she is excited for that moment. “I have received messages from people who have purchased it, which has meant so much to me,” Leal says. “From the very beginning, I said that if I ever saw a stranger wearing it, I would probably cry.”

For Leal, the project is about more than just great art. “I grew up watching the World Cup, playing and loving the sport, so it is surreal to now be part of something connected to FIFA,” she says. “I hope the poster inspires people to dream bigger and carries the pride of our city. Above all, I hope I made my family and Houston proud to be part of this historic moment.”
