Houston's first luxury Moroccan spa heats up River Oaks with steamy, old world pampering
With the promise of both mental and physical benefits and a much-needed side of relaxation, spas have lured clients in with traditional massage or facial treatments for decades.
For those looking to shake up their usual routine, Oasis Moroccan Bath, set to open its doors on October 18, makes way for a unique beauty treatment rooted in an old-world tradition. Given the city’s diverse population and over-the-top wellness industry, Houston’s spa enthusiasts can finally treat themselves to a luxury hammam spa experience.
What is a hammam? A hammam is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath – consider it a wet relative of the sauna. Hammams hydrate and nourish the skin through a process of exfoliation and massage. They are known to improve circulation, remove dead skin cells, and improve lymphatic drainage. According to one study, hammams can decrease physical pain and increase psychological well-being.
“This is a transformative treatment from the inside out. Every product we use has been handpicked and ensured to be the best quality for our guests,” says Saba Syed, owner of Oasis Moroccan Bath. “We’re proud to be one of the few locations that use and sell Cinq Mondes, an exclusive and natural product directly imported from Paris.”
Guests to the first-of-its-kind River Oaks spa will receive an authentic Moroccan-style experience. Think glittering Moroccan lanterns, beautiful velvet lounge seating, and intricately carved wooden doors in a richly hued and dimly lit setting. The spa offers four different packages focused on traditional hammam treatments.
Ranging in price from $375 for 150 minutes to $125 for a Lunchtime Luxe package, there are upgrades and extended offerings to customize each experience. The spa boasts all-natural products from Moroccan brand Doctor Wima, skincare and makeup mogul Huda Beauty and ultra-exclusive Cinq Mondes.
“We’re so excited to bring Hammam to Houstonians and for them to experience luxurious relaxation from head to toe,” Syed said. “Everyone deserves to feel special. My goal is for all my guests to leave feeling more calm, beautiful and empowered.”
