FASHIONABLE FOOTPRINT
Luxe Texas bootmaker Miron Crosby stylishly steps into River Oaks with first Houston boutique
Houston's River Oaks neighborhood is about to receive a touch of Texas style and sophistication with the arrival of Miron Crosby, a bespoke high-fashion boot line created by Texan-born sisters Lizzie Means Duplantis and Sarah Means.
Known for its luxurious hand-crafted offerings, Miron Crosby has already captured national attention, particularly among celebrities, including Gigi Hadid, Kacey Musgraves, Kate Hudson, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Now, it's preparing to make its mark on the historic Lamar-River Oaks center alongside popular retailers and restaurants, including State of Grace, Sid Mashburn and Ann Mashburn, à bientôt, Dos Carolinas, and Mariquita Masterson.
The Houston boutique will feature a carefully curated selection of best-selling styles, including the Margretta, the brand's capstone boot adorned with inlaid and appliquéd jumping stars and crescent moons, and the famed Maggie silhouette – a vintage-inspired short boot available in various classic colors.
"We're absolutely thrilled to open a boutique in Houston. The River Oaks location was a natural choice for us given the space – formerly the River Oaks Bookstore – has such a storied past," said co-owner Lizzie Means Duplantis. "We have always been thoughtful about the neighborhoods and sites we select. It was important for us to honor an establishment with a special tie to the neighborhood, so expect to see an homage to reading play into the design."
The 1,576-square-foot storefront is undergoing a complete transformation by Javier Burkle of Burkle Creative in collaboration with the Maplewood Group. The River Oaks outpost marks the third U.S. boutique for the Dallas-based luxury retailer, following its flagship store's opening in Dallas' Highland Park Village in 2017 and the subsequent expansion to Aspen, Colorado in 2021.
The fashion-forward aesthetic of Miron Crosby reflects a collection deeply rooted in the Western heritage of the Duplantis sisters. Growing up just outside of Marfa on their family's working cattle ranch, they later pursued careers in the financial and fashion worlds of New York City. The brand's name pays homage to their debonair great-grandfather, Marion Otis Means, and one of their favorite NYC SoHo shopping streets.
Each pair of Miron Crosby boots is hand-stitched by master artisans on both sides of the Rio Grande River in Mercedes, Texas, and León, Mexico. The brand is known for blending authentic, time-honored production techniques with unexpected elements and luxe details.
Co-founder Sarah Means said, "Melding tradition with modernity, our boots are the perfect pairing for Houston, a city that fosters individualism and appreciates both fashion and art."
