Ultra-luxury Indian jewelry brand brings dazzling Bollywood opulence to Houston
Houston offers a glowing range of jewelry options, but for those who want a level of extra and ornate can look to a global brand that has just set up shop here.
Tanishq, India's most prominent jewelry retail outlet, has opened a new boutique in Post Oak. Shoppers at the new, 3,800-square-foot Houston showroom will be greeted by pieces boasting Tanishq's contemporary design mixed with the timeless art and craftsmanship made famous in India.
The Post Oak store offers more than 2,000 unique designs, including 18k and 22k gold, plus diamond jewelry, solitaries, and colored gemstones. To toast its Texas debut, Tanishq is showcasing its exquisite, one-of-a-kind collections: Dharohar and Tales of Mystique.
Dharohar, which translates to 'heritage,' features intricately crafted gold jewelry adorned with colorful enamel work and unique uncut diamonds. Tales of Mystique, per press materials, highlights an ethno-contemporary take on jewelry inspired by India's landscapes and architecture.

But really, it's all dazzling. Intricately cut gold pieces pop with glowing gemstones — think rubies embedded upon diamonds, teardrop designs, and necklaces that engulf the decollete without being stifling or oppressive. The dazzling necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are designed for casual to formal to celebration, and can transform an everyday Houstonian into a Bollywood queen in seconds.
It's no accident that the international brand tapped Houston for its expansion. Company brass tells CultureMap that Houston's nation-leading cultural diversity, large Indian population, booming economy, and choosy buyers made the city a top target for expansion.

Frisco, the north-Dallas booming 'burb, is the other Texas city to welcome a Tanishq USA boutique. The brand opened its first U.S. store in New Jersey last year, so expect more locations on the way.
"The Indian audience is spread across the United States," said Amrit Pal Singh, Tanishq's North American business head for jewelry, in press materials. "As we expand in an effort to serve them better, we intend to do so by catering to their diverse preferences, bringing a wide range of exquisite jewelry and, at the same time, interesting designs in everyday wear."
"With a firm commitment to quality, ethical sourcing, and a tailored retail experience, Tanishq is here to provide our customers with jewelry that epitomizes perfection."

Business for Tanishq is golden: the company boasts $3.5 billion in annual revenue.
