Chris Stapleton and luxe Texas bootmaker kick up exciting new collection with outlaw, Lone Star State vibes

Luxe Lucchese Bootmaker and eight-time Grammy-Award-winning artist — and frequent RodeoHouston guest — Chris Stapleton have unveiled their highly anticipated custom collection, showcasing a seamless blend of craftsmanship and artistic vision.

This collab represents the culmination of a five-year journey between Lucchese and Stapleton, with roots in their mutual admiration and respect, the two parties say in press materials.

The Lucchese x Chris Stapleton collection, born out of a shared love for the craft, tells a story of dedication and passion. The project took shape in 2018 during product ideation, but its origins can be traced back nearly a decade ago when Stapleton first visited the Lucchese factory in El Paso, Texas. Since then, Stapleton's deep affinity for Lucchese has been evident through his collection of vintage boots and the Lucchese shirts his band wore while on tour.

Doug Kindy, Lucchese Bootmaker President, welcomed Stapleton into the Lucchese family, saying, "If there was ever a relationship that was meant to be, Chris and Lucchese would be the one." Kindy emphasized the shared values of ingenuity, creativity, and soul that both Lucchese and Stapleton embody, making this collaboration a natural fit.

Stapleton himself sees the artistry in Lucchese boots, "I'm of the mind that everything can be refined to an art, and that's what I love about Lucchese boots — they've taken bootmaking and refined it to an art." The collection shows his appreciation for the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Lucchese x Chris Stapleton collection showcases three distinct boot styles, each available in two colorways, all meticulously handcrafted in Texas. The Original style draws inspiration from Stapleton's first-ever design during his initial visit to the Lucchese factory. These all-American Buffalo boots feature a hand-corded moccasin toe, paying homage to Stapleton's creativity and Lucchese's commitment to fine craftsmanship.

The San Antonio style reflects Lucchese's vintage designs and boasts the sought-after Black Cherry finish. Made from brush-off Santini goat leather with a high-shine finish, these boots showcase historic Seville hand-cording detail inspired by the San Antonio factory.

Lastly, the Old Friend style embodies a Western silhouette and supple suede leather, embodying the essence of Stapleton's musical heroes and acting as a tribute to the timeless spirit of tradition. These boots capture the essence of Stapleton's journey as a songwriter and pay homage to the familiar and beloved.

Stapleton is eager for people to experience Lucchese boots firsthand, declaring, "Lucchese boots are what cowboy boots are supposed to be. I can't wait for people to try them on and learn what I already know: when you put a pair of these on, you don't need anything else."

The Lucchese x Chris Stapleton collection not only represents the convergence of two creative forces but also embraces philanthropy. A portion of the proceeds from this collaboration will benefit Stapleton's charity, Outlaw State of Kind, further amplifying the impact of this harmonious union between Lucchese and the multi-talented musician.

Neiman Marcus' parent company emerges from bankruptcy with new name

The downtown Dallas flagship Neiman Marcus is still slated to close September 30.

NEW YORK (AP) — Saks Global, the parent company of Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman, officially emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy with fewer stores, less debt, a more focused strategy to pamper the affluent — and a new name.

The company said Friday, June 26 that the new entity will be called Exemplar Luxury Group, and with an improved balance sheet, including a nearly 75% debt reduction and $500 million in extra financing. Its CEO, Geoffroy van Raemdonck, said the New York-based company is ready for its next chapter after navigating several tumultuous years.

“Today is really a brand new day for the organization and a new day where these three iconic banners have the right funding, the right equity and a bright future ahead of them,” van Raemdonck told The Associated Press.

Van Raemdonck said that the new name signifies the company's focus on having an exemplary shopping experience — the best merchandise, and better personalized service with customers, with help from its sales associates and the treasure trove of data it has on its customers. The company employs more than 1,500 sales associates who have sold more than $1 million of goods each, he said.

Saks Global had filed for bankruptcy protection in January of this year, buffeted by rising competition and the massive debt it took on to buy its rival in the luxury sector, Neiman Marcus, in July 2024.

Before the bankruptcy, there were 33 Saks stores and 36 Neiman Marcus locations, according to the company, as well as its Bergdorf Goodman store on Fifth Avenue and roughly 70 Saks Off 5th discount stores.

Now, there are a total of 49 stores — 15 Saks Fifth Avenue stores, 33 Neiman Marcus stores and its Bergdorf Goodman store. The company shuttered most of its Saks Off Fifth discount stores, and it now has 12 outlets, the company said.

In early June, Saks Global announced that the iconic downtown Dallas location of Neiman Marcus, at 1618 Main St., will close for good. The company said it plans to close the store on September 30, 2026 and focus on its NorthPark Center location in Dallas. The company's only Houston location is at the Galleria.

Exemplar Luxury Group said it has been teaming up with Pentwater Capital Management and Bracebridge Capital throughout its restructuring process. Both firms will have two representatives on the seven-person board. In addition, van Raemdonck as well as former Ulta Beauty CEO Dave Kimbell and Philippe Schaus, who most recently served as Global CEO of Moët Hennessy, will serve on the board, the company said.
