Lauren Bush is engaged to David Lauren: So what will her married name be?
This piece of news slipped under the radar: After years of dating, Lauren Bush and David Lauren are officially engaged.
The 26-year-old Houston native, activist and fashion designer and the 39-year-old son of legendary designer Ralph Lauren seemed unusually giddy at the FEED Projects' third annual fundraiser in New York last week. Bush founded FEED, an organization that makes clothing with profits going to feed the hungry. According to Women's Wear Daily:
Bush was constantly besieged by a thick circle of friends and well-wishers, most of whom pointedly admired her most recent accessory: a large diamond engagement ring that matched her aptly chosen Ralph Lauren dress. Whether or not Bush's beau, David Lauren had something to do with his fiancee's sartorial selection, he definitely had a spring in his step.....His grin reached practically from ear to ear."
The fashion daily got right to the point: After the wedding, will Lauren be Lauren Lauren?
Bush's mother, Sharon, suggested a hyphenated Lauren Bush-Lauren name.
The bride-to-be said that a name change was still under discussion. "Maybe I could be just 'Lauren,' like Madonna," she said.
A few other details: The couple got engaged at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they met in 2004. No wedding date has been announced.
And a representative from New York's Diamond Information Center estimates that the engagement ring cost between $80,000 and $100,000. "A very classic ring, not surprising from a Lauren!" the Diamond Center's Francesca Ferrante told stylelist.com.
Lauren is senior vice president of advertising and marketing at Polo Ralph Lauren. In addition to the FEED Project, Bush designs her own label Lauren Pierce, which she featured at a runway show during Houston Fashion Week.
