West Ave takes a cue from the country's most stylish cities this holiday season with Gift., a pop-up shop curated by PEEL Gallery chock full of fabulous one-of-a-kind finds for the most discerning tastes on your list.
Although high-end luxury goods abound, shoppers can find a variety of gifts that speak to each of the five senses at a range of price points. You have to stop by the store yourself, if only to see (and touch) the wall art by Parisian ex-pat Frank Fuzzy, but here are our top picks:
Thierry Lasry sunglasses —With a retro-chic feel and bright colors as well as classic tortoise, these frames are hand-made in Paris and will surely get heads turning. Starting at $375
Paper Bear by Ryuji Nakamura — Crafted from a single piece of paper, this avant-garde teddy isn't meant to be cuddled and is a sure conversation starter. Also available by Tokyo-based Nakamura is a functional paper pouf. $3,000
Carmina Campus clutches — Eco-friendly meets Fendi. These hard-to-find clutches, the brainchild of Ilaria Venturini, are composed of leftover Fendi leathers. $535
Limited Edition Vanity Fair— This stunning hardcover is book No. 6 in Four Corners Books' special Familiars series, which invites contemporary artists to produce a new illustrative edition of a classic novel or short story. Illustrations are by British artist Donald Urquhart, inspired by 1930s Hollywood. $40
Pamela Love jewelry — A favorite of Vogue and the CFDA, love's jewelry is simultaneously edgy and chic. Our favorite pieces are the sharp-looking studded metal and thick, tribal-inspired wooden cuffs. $50 to more than $1,000
The shop at 2800 Kirby Dr. inside of West Ave — on the ground floor next door to Q Custom Clothier — will disappear as quickly as it, well, popped up. Gift. is open from noon to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; noon to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 31.
