As a longtime fashion critic, it's always been a snap snagging interviews with some of the world's top luxury designers, like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Andrew Gn, or Akris' Albert Kriemler. All I have to say is I'm from Houston and they are eager to talk.
They recognize that, unlike some other cities, in Houston people still like to dress up for work, lunch or a night on the town.
Since there are so many well-dressed Houstonians, we have started a new CultureMap feature called Style File, where we highlight those with a great fashion sense who catch our eye.
Editor-at-large Shelby Hodge is on the lookout at social events and I also keep a watchful eye wherever I go, from lunch at Luby's to a high society gala. So don't be surprised if one of us approaches you to be part of StyleFile.
You can take part, too. Nominate a candidate for Style File and send a photo, along with a few sentences to tell us why you think the person is a great dresser.
It doesn't have to be only at a society function: You can find Style File candidates at a Texans game, at a backyard barbecue or while running errands. The dresser doesn't have to be head-to-toe in designer brands. And it can be a woman or a man.
Our only critieria: They look distinctive.
