Too Early?
Galleria's opening on Thanksgiving for first time ever, but many big stores have no interest in participating
For the first time ever, many stores at The Galleria are opening their doors Thanksgiving Day for shoppers ready to hit the mall after their turkey meals — but not all of the mall's retailers are eagerly jumping into the super early fray.
Representatives from Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co. all tell CultureMap their Galleria stores will not be open on Thanksgiving, but will reopen on Black Friday as usual.
The new Galleria Thanksgiving hours run from 6 p.m to 1 a.m. on Nov. 27 for the participating retailers. Black Friday hours the following day vary from store to store. The Galleria itself reopens at 6 a.m. for Black Friday after the 1 a.m. Thanksgiving night closing.
Macy's is one large department stores that is participating in the new Thanksgiving hours proposed by mall management.
"Many retailers will offer extended holiday hours and some are offering special deals during that time," Andrew Huang, director of marketing for The Galleria, says in a statement. "Most of the large department stores and popular national brands will have extended hours throughout the Thanksgiving weekend and rest of the holiday season."
The new H&M flagship store will also be open on Thanksgiving from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. on Nov. 28.
The mall's interior will be available for walkers during the extended hours as well.
