Undoubtedly the most accessible and charming big-name designers in the country, Mark Badgley and James Mischka oozed charisma Tuesday night at Recipe for Success' Dress for Dinner benefit at Saks Fifth Avenue.
As 150 or so stylistas swarmed, glasses of bubbly and vino in hand, the famed Badgley Mischka duo inspected models who would strut the catwalk in the designers' resort/spring collection, showing off the very designs that were on their way to Saks. (Careful observers would note that the silver-haired Badgley wasn't wearing his iconic horn-rimmed glasses, corrective surgery having solved that necessity.)
"We're eyeing Houston very closely because it's such an amazing market for us."
During the cocktail hour, the two talked about the possibility of a free-standing store in New York, following their signature boutiques in Beverly Hills and Palm Beach. And Badgley hinted, "We're eyeing Houston very closely because it's such an amazing market for us. But, of course, we love Saks and this store is important to us."
Dress for Dinner series chairs Cerón and Todd Fiscus of Dallas presided over the party that saw an exceptional turnout of Pretty Young Things as well as veterans of the designer salons. That mix had Recipe for Success founder Gracie Cavnar and Saks GM Terry Zmyslo beaming.
In the mix were Carrie Colbert, Kelli Colbert, Dr. Yvonne Cormier, Katherine Avery Guillot, Cristina Rose, Liz Decker, Katie Decker, Katlyn Sebera, Veronica Schiller, Beth Wolff, Judge Clarease Yates, Beth Muecke, Roz Pactor, Layla Asgari, Katy Atlas, Karina Barbieri and Gabriela Dror. Among the gents in the crowd were Jeff Shell, Ted Loch and Brandon McClendon.
