    • The Holiday Shopping Card allows discounts at a slew of Houston stores.

‘Tis the season to go shopping. No, I’m not talking about the annoying red and green already out in stores, but the wealth of new places or familiar places in new spaces ready for you to explore.

    Porsche Design

Anyone who loves high design should head for the new Porsche Design store in The Galleria. It's filled with sleek luggage, sunglasses, watches, leather jackets, high-tech running shoes and more.

    One Green Street

I loved One Green Street’s location off Buffalo Speedway, but the recent move to The Heights, seems, well, so much more organic. The eco-friendly store is helmed by Sherry Eichberger and she only stocks her lifestyle store with truly good-for-you, good-for-the-planet items.

    Cunningham & Co.

Designer Linda Cunningham left the Haut Chocolate boutique concept for something cooler and more sophisticated. Pop by her newly-imagined boutique in River Oaks Shopping Center for labels like Z by Zac Posen, Issa and Houston’s own David Peck.

    Un, Deux Trois

Un Deux, Trois, the trendy boutique for girls and 'tweens has relocated from West Ave to Rice Village on Rice Boulevard. The shop carries everything from dresses and accessories to swimwear and shoes.

    Dryden-Kreps

CityCentre retail roster is getting an influx of boutiques this fall. The newest retailer to open its doors is Dryden-Kreps, a men’s clothing store featuring men’s suits, sport coats, custom clothing, furnishings, shoes and leather goods. Located across from Urban Outfitters, the retailer is another addition to the men’s shopping scene.

    Envi Boutique

Girls just wanna have fun too, so there’s also Envi Boutique in CityCentre. The women’s boutique offers day-to-night dressing with pieces from Covet, MIilla, Veronica M, Chaser, Plenty by Tracy Reese, The Furies and Analili.

    Pomp & Circumstance

It wasn’t so long ago that Pomp & Circumstance was a web-based jewelry collection designed by Marie Earthman. After a short stint in a cozy space off Persa, Earthman is expanding to a large store at the corner of Persa and Westheimer. In addition to affordable handmade jewelry, Earthman also sells apparel and gifts.

    Biscuit Homegoods

Bailey McCarthy’s blog Peppermint Bliss is downright addictive, especially if you like interior design, find yourself balancing work and parenting and living life in general. Her latest endeavor, the store Biscuit Homegoods, is an extension of her design aesthetic and includes a line of high quality printed bedding which we have designed and manufactured in the USA, plus furniture, designer pillows, lighting and other home accessories.

The store has its grand opening on Oct. 27.

    Tanger Outlets

If you don’t mind driving for deals, check out the new Tanger Outlets in Texas City. The grand opening is set for Friday with national retailers such as Michael Kors, J. Crew and Gap Inc.’s factory stores Banana Republic and Gap.

    Holiday Card

Ever wonder how so many people get so much holiday shopping finished before Thanksgiving? Behold the power of the Holiday Shopping Card. From Oct. 25 through Nov. 4 retailers across Houston and beyond open their doors to shoppers who have purchased a card for $70.

In exchange, shoppers receive 20 percent off their purchases and the sales of the card benefits the American Cancer Society.

Boys are welcome to read the books on the shelves.

Houston’s premier boys-only boutique now has a permanent home in Rice Village. ParkerJoe, which offers clothing, accessories, and lifestyle brands that takes lads from wee tykes to pre-adolescent (in sizes newborn to 16), originally opened last year in a temporary spot in the River Oaks Shopping Center.

Now open at 5515 Kelvin Dr., Suite 95, the store unfolds across 1,900 square feet, all of it stocked with the retailer’s carefully curated inventory that embraces all kinds of boys and all types of occasions. Families will find looks that range from formal and preppy to sporty and casual, with brands such as Bailey Boys, Classic Prep, Saltwater Boys, and Appaman as well as local brands like Sunnies, which specializes in polarized sunglasses for children, and onesies from Houston children’s apparel purveyor Oink Moo.

“We wanted to create a place where boys are seen and heard,” said Lisa Hostler, who owns the store with her daughter Chelsea. “Their needs and their wants are represented at ParkerJoe.”

Hostler is excited to be in the Rice Village spot, an affluent area known for its walkability and attractiveness for families, which make it an ideal location for a niche retailer like ParkerJoe.

“It’s a younger population and a strong retail mix,” she said. “We couldn’t be happier here in a center that has welcomed us so warmly and made us feel at home.”

The store itself is designed to help boys enjoy the sometimes awkward process of shopping for new clothes. Towards that end, they are welcome to touch and play with toys on the shelves, which are stocked with books, games, and stuffed animals.

An official grand opening is planned for September, but prior to that customers can expect a summer of events including trunk shows, a fashion show, and an influencer brunch.

Even as Lisa and Chelsea are excited to be in Rice Village, they are setting their sights on continued expansion. They currently have a temporary outpost in Memorial City Mall, and are looking for retail locations in other Houston neighborhoods, with a desire to open across Texas.

ParkerJoe in Rice Village is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
