Stylish Houstonians outshine supermodels at Generations of Glamour runway show
"I love glamour," Elizabeth Anthony owner Julie Roberts declared before an excited audience at the Second Annual Generations of Glamour Style Show. "I've loved glamour my whole life. I love glamorous people, glamorous places and glamorous things.
"Houston's a pretty glamorous town. It's filled with wonderful, generous people that come out to support their community and the charities and causes that are important to them. And that's what tonight is all about."
It was certainly a glam evening as more than 200 guests enjoyed cocktails and live music from Moodafaruka inside the expanded Elizabeth Anthony boutique before heading into a large tent to applaud the 2015 Generations of Glamour honorees. Ten stylish women, accompanied by their daughters or daughters-in-law, strolled the runway like supermodels to wild applause.
Stealing the show was Nancy Haywood, who showed all sorts of cool runway moves while ruling the catwalk with her daughter-in-law Emma Haywood.
But the others gave Haywood a run for her money. They included Maria Alcala-Herrera and Angelica Alcala-Herrera, Libby Cheney and Megan Welch, Erica de la Torre Robert and Ashley de la Torre, Harriet Hart and Meredith Barineau, Kelley Lubanko and Elise Lubanko, Sue Payne and Hannah Payne, Kelly Von Gonten and Rachel Von Gonten, Jane Wagner and Jill and Emily Roth, and Merele Yarborough and Amy Yarborough.
Guests were also treated to a runway show featuring key looks from the Escada resort and spring 2016 collections, accessorized with fine jewelry by Jordan Alexander.
Seen in the crowd were Bobbie Nau, Carolyn Farb, Vivian Wise and Sergio Morales, Neal Hamil, Lynn Mathre, Jana Giammalva, Shawntell McWilliams, Sharon Bush, Cherri Carbonara, Harriet Gertner, Jordan Alexander designer Theresa Bruno and United Way vice president of donor giving Anne Neeson.
The evening benefited the United Way of Greater Houston’s Women’s Initiative.
