River Oaks District project wraps up another tenant deal with a Diane von Furstenberg boutique
Even though the River Oaks District is not slated to open until 2015, the mixed-use complex continues to draw an impressive roster of luxury designers. The latest big name to commit to the Houston market is Diane von Furstenberg. PaperCity reports that the designer of the famed wrap dress is confirmed as a tenant in the 14-acre shopping, entertainment and residential complex currently under construction at the former site of the 4444 Westheimer apartments.
Von Furstenberg will join a high-end roster that includes Hermès, Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli and a luxury movie theater from Florida-based iPic Entertainment. Two restaurants from the Dallas-based Consilient restaurant group, Thirteen Pies and AF+B, will also be tenants.
Other luxury designers reportedly looking at the complex are Dior, John Lobb and Akris as well as Chanel and Cartier, which currently operate stores in The Galleria. However, with a revamping of The Galleria to include several storefront boutiques facing directly onto Westheimer, competition to land top luxury designers is expected to be fierce.
Representatives for OliverMcMillan, the San Diego-based company that is developing the River Oaks District project, and von Furstenberg did not respond to a request for comment.
