Haute Houston fashion show rocks River Oaks District with local designers
The River Oaks District, already an established address for luxury retail and superior customer service, ups its game serving as host for Fashion X, a three-night runway show featuring emerging and established Houston-based designers. The must-attend weekend includes season winners and all stars from Lifetime Television’s hit show Project Runway.
In addition to the runway shows, attendees can expect special promotions and treats from the district’s retailers and restaurants. The Gallery, a curated space filled with pop-up shops, will offer the latest from local accessories designers. Proceeds from each night will be donated to the event’s VIP Style Setters’ local Houston nonprofits of choice.
October 4’s outdoor runway presentation spotlights fall’s hottest fashion trends with looks from some of the River Oaks District’s glittering portfolio, including Akris, Alice + Olivia, Canali, Eres, Etro, Kiton, Roberto Cavalli, and Stella McCartney. On October 5 and 6, shows feature collections from emerging and established designers from Houston and beyond, including Project Runway winner and local favorite Chloe Dao and Dallas-based ethical designer Abi Ferrin. Global Fashion will also present runway shows by Pakistani designers Erum Khan, Rana Noman, and more.
In-store events run daily during Fashion X Houston from 5 to 7 pm with participating stores offering special promotions. Amorino Gelato will give out complimentary kid-sized treats on October 4 and 5. At the Social Graces Club, enjoy an evening of cocktails and fashion, featuring the looks of Baanou. Bonobos offers a complimentary gift with purchase, and provides light bites to give shoppers sustenance.
Equinox will provide complimentary mini facials and give 25 percent off any spa service (for new customers only). Perfumer Jo Malone has specialty cocktails and complimentary deluxe gift sets with purchases. And Planet Blue will give a free henna tattoo and special cocktails to shoppers checking out the latest fall and winter trends.
“Our partnership with River Oaks District allows for an incredible opportunity to provide a highly-anticipated fashionable and charitable experience on a grand scale,” says Matt Swinney, founder of the Fashion X brand. “With its array of first-class retailers and restaurants, we are excited to return to River Oaks District and bring glamour into the everyday lives of Houston men and women.”
