Fashion Week fun: Katie Holmes gets tattooed; Joe Zee joins the (Old) Navy and jumps to the digital side
NEW YORK — Joe Zee had a lot to celebrate during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The former creative director of Elle magazine has jumped to Yahoo, where, as editor-in-chief and executive creative officer, he has created a digital fashion magazine, Yahoo Style and is contributing video series and supervising special events around Yahoo Fashion and Yahoo Beauty. He's also the new style ambassador for Old Navy, where he styled the looks for the discount retailer's "Fall in Love" fall campaign.
"I think you are going to find really great fashion-forward must-have items at very accessible prices. And that was very important for me working with them."
"I love working with Old Navy," Zee said at a fashion week party celebrating the collaboration. "Number one, I wear it all the time anyway. So in my off hours I'm always putting together jeans, I'm living in their shirts; I'm living in their sweats. I think you are going to find really great fashion-forward must-have items at very accessible prices. And that was very important for me working with them."
Zee said he was enjoying the jump from print to the digital side, too. "I love it. It's different. I get to deal with things on a day to day basis, on hour-to-hour basis," he said.
While Zee was wearing jeans and a blue shirt, Katie Holmes showed up in an Old Navy long-sleeve striped poplin shirt ($24.95), which she paired with her own Acme jeans and Isabel Marant heels. The actress, best known as the former wife of Tom Cruise, joined in the fun at the party by getting two huge metallic temporary tattoos applied on the back of her neck and forearm before rushing off to catch a flight. The flashy tattoos appear to be the latest celebrity thing, as Sarah Jessica Parker sported one when she was recently in Houston for an appearance at Nordstrom.
Other celebs on hand included model Hilary Rhoda, stylist June Ambrose and make-up artist Jay Manuel.
