Florals & faux furs with layers
A solution to Houston's fall fashion quandary: Now & Later pieces
- Floral print dresses are versatile options for now and later.
- Whether the faux fur is on you or your bag, it's in.
There’s a certain amount of ease when dressing for Houston summers. We know what fabrics work best for the searing heat and suffocating humidity and we never leave home without a light jacket or wrap to fight the air conditioning.
But as the calendar veers toward fall, wardrobe planning gets a bit trickier. Jackets hang from the racks and magazines tease us with trends we were itching to wear in August — if only we lived in the northeast.
Muse Boutique owner Lindsay Mousoudakis has given this dilemma great thought and a floral dress gets her vote for a transitional “Now and Later” piece.
Florals are a perpetual summer trend, but as the weather turns cooler, layer a long sleeve underneath, add some tights and perhaps a motorcycle jacket and "you have created a perfect fall outfit,” Mousoudakis says.
As for her fall must-have, well, Mousoudakis is going faux.
“My favorite fall trend is faux fur,” she says. “It’s always a classic, a staple, but this year it’s making a strong statement and is an absolute must. Use it as a vest, a jacket, a shoe, a purse, it’s all so much fun.”
