Here comes the bride
Lauren Bush and David Lauren plan Labor Day weekend wedding in Colorado
Houston native Lauren Bush, the granddaughter of former president George H.W. Bush, and fashion executive David Lauren, the son of iconic designer Ralph Lauren, plan to tie the knot this weekend on his father's 17,000-acre Colorado ranch, the New York Post reports.
Lauren Bush plans to take her husband's name. “I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way.”
The tab spilled these details:
Events will center around Telluride, with the wedding on Sunday at Ralph Lauren's Double RL ranch, where parts of the John Wayne movie, True Grit , were filmed. The dress code for the wedding is "black tie with a Western twist," according to a source. Ralph Lauren is designing Bush's wedding gown.
Other festivities, which Ralph and wife Ricky will host, include a picnic and softball game on Saturday, rehearsal dinner Saturday night and a rodeo on Monday.
Among the 200 expected guests are Bush's father Neil Bush, and wife, Maria, and mother, Sharon Bush, who will be escorted by Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia. The couple divorced in 2003 after 23 years of marriage.
Bush's grandparents, George H.W. and Barbara Bush, will not attend, possibly because of the high altitude, the newspaper speculated. A spokesman for Bush's uncle, former president George W. Bush, would not comment if he or wife, Laura, will be in attendance, although cousins Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush are expected to be there.
Earlier in the month, the couple celebrated their engagement at a party in the Hamptons hosted by Hearst heiress Anne Hearst and her husband, author Jay McInerney, where everyone wore white.
Lauren Bush, who founded the FEED Projects to raise funds for hungry children, has said she plans to take her husband's name. “I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way.”
