Embrace the bracelet: Spring's biggest menswear trend continues into the fall
Let’s be honest here: While fall collections are already hitting stores across the country, it’s still going to be hot for a while in Houston. This means two good things (for both men and women): First of all, you’ll be able to wear all of those items you picked up at the end of season sales for a few more months. And, those spring and summer trends that no longer make sense for some of our friends in cooler climates are definitely still applicable.
For men, one of the biggest trends of this season is also one of the simplest: Bracelets. It seems that, beginning in June, fashion editors were being photographed during the menswear shows in Milan and Paris with wristfuls of colorful friendship bracelets. Some have embraced the trend for a number of years now, but spring/summer 2011 is definitely when the trend took off.
The good news is that your sleeves will probably be rolled up for another couple of months, meaning you won’t be late to embrace the bracelet trend. But they also look cool when peeking out from beneath the sleeves of a blazer.
But make sure that it doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard: Don’t go out and buy 30 bracelets at once. Buy a couple of pricier ones by Miansai — Mortar has them — and as you travel, buy some more. If they have some sort of memory attached to them, they’re even cooler. Burkman Brothers has some great inexpensive ones as well.
Just remember: your jewelry should never be flashier than your significant other's, and Livestrong bracelets are only good for the gym.
