Fashion X Houston Returnss
Fashion X Houston unveils honorees and new location, but hopes for a little less drama
As the temperatures cool down this fall, the city's fashion season will be heating up. Fashion X Houston, the three-night event featuring runway shows from Project Runway finalists and emerging designers from across the state, is returning with a new slate of honorees in a new location.
Austin entrepreneur Matt Swinney, who also sponsors similar shows in Austin and Dallas, is partnering with River Oaks District for this year's Houston edition, which will run from October 5 through 7. The fashion shows will be held in an outdoor setting at the upscale shopping center that features a plethora of luxury brands.
On each night, a prominent Houston fashion leader will be honored as a "Style Setter" and her designated charity will be saluted. On October 5, Houston native Lindsey Love will appear on the runway on behalf of Dress for Success. Dr. Sippi Khurana will be the center of attention on October 6, with Know Austim as the beneficiary. On the final night (October 7), philanthropist Carolyn Farb will be saluted, along with her designated charity, Camp Say.
Fashion X Houston will donate a portion of all “Style Setter” tickets to the non-profit of each woman’s choice. Individual tickets range from $35 to $450; a VIP package for all three nights ranges from $325 - $1,200. For more information, visit the Fashion X Houston website.
The event will also feature a collection of pop-up shops hosted by jewelry and accessories designers for both men and women, called the Gallery.
Swinney plans an exciting event, but he is surely hoping for a little less drama than last year, when Project Runway designer Michelle Lesniak was yanked from the runway lineup after being overheard loudly dissin' two of the Style Setter honorees from the front row of Silver Street Studios, where the event was held.
