Where to shop right now: 10 must-hit stores for August
Although we're all still roasting, the fashion calendar is moving ahead and with a host of new stores and places to get glam, something tells me we will be more than ready when fall officially hits. Here are 10 great shops (or online sites) to check out this month:
No matter where Willow Boutique owner Jill Faucetta opens her doors, a fashionable flock is sure to follow for stunning accessories and other wearable art. You will find her new store on Virginia Street where you can either enter through the Brownstone or on Virginia.
The venerable retailer is among luxury labels upgrading its space at The Galleria. Burberry has added more than 3,000 square feet to the store, including exposure to Westheimer Boulevard, and with all that room is adding a client services department and made-to-measure suiting. More good news for the fashion faithful: The Houston store now carries designer Christopher Bailey's top-of-the-line Burberry Prorsum line.
The same retail team behind the shuttered 310 Rosemont has opened a new concept in West Ave. Sam and Lilli mixes men and women’s clothing in a fresh space.
Fab interior designer Kelly Wearstler has expanded her reach to include ready-to-wear and accessories. The much buzzed-about designer is coming to Tootsies for a personal appearance Aug. 29. Her fall collection has an edgy, rock-and-roll feel with just a touch of sweetness. And she has created a cool new denim line just in time for fall.
Temple Street at Rebecca & Drew
Another month, another bit of news from Rebecca & Drew in River Oaks Shopping Center. Owner Lindsay Aronstein welcomes Temple Street jewelry to her shop, giving customer an easy way to accessorize her shirting options.
Good hair is on the move. The Blow Dry Bar just opened second location on Voss, with a menu of blowouts and updos starting at $35.
Buffalo Exchange has a fresh look in a new space in Rice Village. The 1,925 square-foot resale shop features two buy counters for selling clothing for cash or trade. Look for parking in front of the store or in the side lots.
Edward Sanchez has been making women look good (and feel pretty great on the inside too) for years, so it just makes sense he would have a place of his own. His Vanity Lounge in West Ave offers threading, makeup application, manscaping and lashdipping, sculpted, semi-permanent painted lashes.
MaxMara has also freshened up its 2,300 square-foot Galleria store with an updated look just in time for the unveiling of the fall collection, featuring power suits and chic outerwear that the luxury Italian fashion house is known for.
Anyone who has had to get a wriggling baby or an opinionated preschooler into an outfit, knows easy is always better. Enter Cuteheads, a new Houston-based children's clothing line founded by Esther Freedman that combines cute and convenient for kids up to four-years-old.
