Shopping power: Another major fashion store is heading to The Woodlands
With a burgeoning, affluent population, The Woodlands continues to be magnet for name brands. The latest to ink a deal to set up shop on Market Street in the far north Houston suburb is Kate Spade New York.
When she launched the company 20 years ago, Spade featured eye-catching handbags but has since expanded into clothing, jewelry, shoes, stationery, eyewear, baby items, fragrance, bedding and gifts. The brand is known for crisp colors, graphic prints and playful sophistication.
The company is now owned by Fifth & Pacific, which has ambitious plans to more double the number of worldwide stores by 2016.
The store plans a November opening next to Elaine Turner. Other recent arrivals to Market Street are Tumi, Calypso, St. Barth and Madewell.
Kate Spade has a full-service store in The Galleria and an outlet store in Cypress.
