Famed Parisian luxury style house opens doors in River Oaks District

Houston’s influx of hot, European luxury fashion imports show no signs of slowing, as evidenced by the recent opening of Barcelona-based bridal boutique Pronovias in The Galleria.
Now, those looking for more high-end products from across the pond are in luck, as Parisian luxury leather goods house Moreau Paris has unveiled a new pop-up in River Oaks District. The brand’s now-open Texas flagship store — a 1,152-square-foot space — will remain in the district for one year, according to a release.
Fashionistas and the stylish will instantly recognize the line for its signature Moreau Print, stitching designs, and materials. Known for their iconic tote bag, the Brégançon is named after their famous client Robert Bellanger, the last private tenant of the Brégançon castle in the Côte d’Azur.
The brand’s history dates back to Paris in 1882, when the French company, specialized in luxury travel items and other goods, set up shop at 283 Rue Saint-Honoré. Maison Moreau created leather trunks with an iconic print inspired by the natural patterns of wicker trunks. In 2011, Maison Moreau was relaunched with a new collection under the name Moreau Paris.
Much like Louis Vuitton, Moreau now boasts leather goods, luggage, and accessories — all of which are customizable via monograms, stripes, and hand painted special drawings.
Moreau’s pop-up is just one of a litany of stylish shops in ROD, which counts Akris, Canali, Brunello Cucinelli, Joie, Theory, Dior, Harry Winston, Hermes, NARS, and Stella McCarty, among others, as tenants.
“The addition of a brand as iconic as Moreau represents the future direction of River Oaks District,” said Rosalind Schurgin, CEO of ROD’s operating firm, Festival Company, in a statement. “Such luxury labels are choosing ROD to surround themselves with the caliber of fellow luxury retailers in the Houston market.”
