Somethin' To Talk About
The Woodlands gets cooler: Sears to be replaced by Nordstrom in mall shakeup?
- Rumor has it that a Norstrom may soon move in to The Woodlands.
- The Woodlands Mall seems the perfect place for the upscale department store.
Fashionistas take heed: Nordstrom may be descending upon the suburbs.
Shop Girl Joy Sewing's sources say that the Seattle-based, high-end department store could be sizing up a two-story anchor pad at The Woodlands Mall currently occupied by Sears.
Back in February, Sears announced its intentions to close The Woodlands store in 2013, selling the space in a bundle deal (along with 10 other Sears pads) to General Growth Properties, which owns the mall.
If the current speculations are true, this would make only the second Nordstrom store to open in the Houston area.
A Nordstrom in The Woodlands has been rumored for years. If the current speculation is true, this would make it only the second Nordstrom store in the Houston area — unless you count, of course, the Nordstrom Rack discount outlets at Post Oak and Sugar Land's Town Center.
CultureMap's inquiries to General Growth Properties were not immediately answered, and a Nordstrom spokesperson told Sewing that, while the store is always looking for opportunities around the country, they currently "don’t have any information to announce."
Which isn't exactly a strong denial.
How do you think a Nordstrom would fare in The Woodlands?
