Ralph Lauren expands luxurious Purple Label with fashion-forward designs for men

Ralph Lauren traveled all the way to Milan to showcase his Purple Label menswear collection for spring 2016. The designer is opening a giant new store for VIP customers in the Italian fashion capital in September and hinted at what's to come with a presentation in the ornate palazzo space
The upscale Purple Label is absorbing the brand's Black Label and expanding into a more fashion-forward look in a wide range of luxury designs, from a zippered nylon jumpsuit and tight-fitting black jackets with slashes of bold yellow to exquisite formal evening attire in such fabrics as denim and navy jacquard.
The collection is basically divided into three parts, with looks for casual play, work and nighttime glamour.
The collection is basically divided into three parts, with looks for casual play (perfect for tooling around in the Maserati), work (immaculately-cut suits) and nighttime glamour (a range of black, navy and cream-colored formal wear).
For the casual dresser, Lauren features jeans in bold colors of of yellow, orange and green, a navy-and-orange leather hooded jacket and a bright orange peacoat with portofino regatta print lining. Navy jackets and sweaters are brightened up with neon yellow racing stripes.
For the suited crowd, a head-to-toe look in tan — suit, shirt and tie all in the same shade — stands out, along with double breasted jackets in mocha and tan. Several suits are marked with wide peak wide peak lapels and contrasting lavender shirts or sweaters.
A wide array of evening wear ranges from a double-breasted cream evening jacket with a wide shawl collar to crisp peak lapel tuxedos in black and navy. Velvet slippers with an abstracted RL logo add a casual yet luxurious touch.
Lauren's 11,840-square-foot space on Via San Barnaba in Milan will showcase the men's Purple Label designs as well as women's collections. Services will include customized accessories and tailoring for women along with made-to-measure suits for men.
