Fashion Bargain Alert
River Oaks designer gown and dress business is closing down, selling off everything at deep discounts
This weekend fashion lovers have a reason to be sad but perhaps also a little happy if they are bargain hunters. New for the Night, the Houston-based company that allows women to rent designer gowns and cocktail dresses, plus accessories and other must-haves for a fraction of retail, has decided to close.
Owner Brittany Sakowitz is shutting down the business, which was patterned as a localized version of Rent the Runway, to concentrate on her legal career.
All dresses will be sold at deep discounts at the showroom located at 3205 Westheimer before the sale goes online at NewfortheNight.com next week. The in-store sale begins at noon on Saturday.
In an e-blast to customers, Sakowitz wrote:
Effective July 25th, NewfortheNight.com and the Houston showroom will be closed! It has been an absolutely amazing run and we truly appreciate all of your support and loyalty during these past 18 months. We have loved helping you Borrow Something Beautiful and have enjoyed being a part of your events and lives."
In a email, Sakowitz told CultureMap, "We have gotten a few great offers on the website, name and concept, so its bittersweet but I'm excited to move forward (and to offer this amazing sale to our loyal customers!)."
