Stylish clothes "hoarder" mixes investment dressing with cheap chic items and colors that pop
For Tootsies' first outdoor patio party on a picture-perfect day last month, Kristy Bradshaw stood out in a striking pair of graffiti print black and white slacks with a pop of color in yellow handbag and shoes.
"The choice of the ensemble was twofold," she explained by email. "No. 1, I love fun bags but don’t get to use them as often given I’m toting my work bag during the week and a diaper bag on the weekends, so my outfits usually start around the bag. And No. 2, I love these pants and only wore them once, so I wanted to get one last wear in before the temperatures got too hot."
"I buy pieces for the long haul —and not for trends — and pick my spots, pairing high and low items."
During a girl's trip to Los Angeles last September, she picked up the slacks by A.L.C. at Intermix and the handbag at the Céline store on Rodeo Drive.
She purchased the Ella Moss blouse more than eight year ago online — "I'm a hoarder when it comes to clothes," she exclaims — and the Manolo Blahnik sandals came from a Neiman Marcus First Call sale in 2013. The Elie Saab bracelet was won at the brand's perfume launch at the Hotel ZaZa a while back, she recalls.
Bradshaw describes her style as "classic with an edge."
"I’m an investor by profession, so that extends to my personal purchases as well. I buy pieces for the long haul —and not for trends — and pick my spots, pairing high and low items," she says.
