Fashion alert: Wednesday's the new Thursday (and cakeballs are the new cupcakes)
Is Wednesday the new Thursday? Sure seems like it this week. Of course, Thursday is looking pretty good too.
Hair hop Wednesday night from a new salon to an established favorite. Dionysus Hair, is throwing a bash from 6-8 p.m. celebrating its new digs on Louisiana with locktastic demonstrations, cocktails, light bites and psychic readings (are highlights in my future?) and an after party at Sushi Raku from 8-10 p.m.
Solution for Hair is also sharing the love from 7-9 p.m. and is offering some serious incentives to change your look for summer. Bring a friend and you both get 25 percent off your next appointment, plus get discounts on Stella & Dot jewelry. And since a party isn’t worth attending these days without a taco truck, Solution will have one on-site, plus cupcakes, beer, wine and the intriguing organic, gourmet snow-cone concept. Solution is also asking party people to bring diapers for Casa de Esperanza.
The Sex and the City premiere is still a week a away, but if you need some of that fashion magic and a Girl’s Night Out, the American Heart Association and the Village Arcade may be able to get you through with a fashion show Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Em & Lee, Hemline, Banana Republic and Juliet & Romeo Couture are among the store styles appearing on the runway for the show. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door and come with complimentary cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and valet parking.
Since Wednesday night is going to be so much fun, pull out that party dress for round two on Thursday. Start early at Rebecca & Drew for an afternoon of shopping and sips. R&D summer styles, Mary Nichols’ new handbag collection, Andrea Montgomery jewelry and Dripping Springs vodka are on tap starting at 4 p.m.
Women of Wardrobe is setting up shop at Elaine Turner’s Rice Village boutique for its membership appreciation party from 6-8 p.m. Not a member but always wanted to join? This is an excellent chance to do just that, plus there are cake balls (sorry cupcakes), tacos, wine, a chance to win an Elaine Turner bag, a pair of shoes and a private party at the flagship store. WOW members are free, non members are $10 at the door and yes, 15 percent of the evening’s sales benefit Dress for Success.
