Plan for glam: Fashion circuit heats up with shopping parties
Barely a week goes by without some fashion event of some kind to attend. And you want to go to at least some of them right? New lines, good sales and interesting people make each one unique, so the question really is, where will you be this week?
Baubles by Brothers
Sloan/Hall routinely brings exclusive collections and the amazing people behind them to their River Oaks shop. Friday, brothers Demian and Alex Vazquez are in-store for a trunk show and cocktail party showcasing their bejeweled baubles with plenty of attitude. The sterling silver and gem stone jewelry is handcrafted and designed with hearts, skulls, wings and crosses among other designs. The store is donating 20 percent of the day’s sales to the HRC's Project Equality Gala.
Owners Shannon Hall and Marcus Sloan are BFF with Chelsea Handler and shoppers who sign up as a table captain Friday will receive a copy of her book Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang, donated by Handler. The trunk show is from noon to 6 p.m. and Armando’s rolls out cocktails and bites from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Handler is appearing at Verizon Wireless Friday night.)
Sex and the City Primer Party
We like to think there’s a little bit of the Sex and the City girls in all of us and GlamShop parties are just the kind of place the chic foursome would frequent. Creator Naima Singletary gathers fashion and beauty brands under one roof and lets the shopping begin. Singletary’s latest GlamShop is Saturday in the Museum District from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Try out beauty treatments, check out makeup trends, snag glam swag bags, sip cocktails and shop clothing and accessories at up to 65 percent off. Tickets are $15 at the door $5 in advance.
Men Like Fashion Shows Too
Every girl (and guy) goes crazy for sharp-dressed men and these days the new go-to spot is P-Jais in Rice Village. The shop is hosting a fashion show Saturday, showing off tops by Desigual, Stone Rose and Monarchy, jeans by Cult of Individuality, Big Star, LTB and William Rast and shoes by Cole Haan, Antonio Zengara and Giorgio Brutini. The store feels like a party on a regular day and the complimentary open bar during the fashion show is sure to up the festive feeling.
Feeling Like Spring, Shopping for Fall
I know most of us are shopping for sundresses, but think fall, if just for a night, Wednesday, April 28 when Coquette Boutique and Bistro hosts "Fashion for the Titans" at Red Room. The boutique is showing of Sass & Bide's fall collection with a fashion show and pieces will be available to order and buy throughout the night. It’s a fashion show in a lounge so be ready for dancing, noshing and imbibing.
