We found a cool new men's store: Try on P-Jai's for size
Women think nothing of dashing by their favorite mall store or boutique to pick up an item or two for a night out. Men however, are often relegated to what’s already hanging in their closets. P-Jai's in Rice Village is giving men their shot at making a fashionable entrance with a boutique full of exclusive, playful and colorful clothing, shoes and accessories.
Assuming most men have at least one pair of jeans in their wardrobes, owners Jai Fain, Marco Garza and Pete Fain have focused a lot of energy on button-down shirts by Apricottree, Modern Amusement and Stone Rose, the latter worn often by Eric Stonestreet on the ABC comedy Modern Family. Vibrant hues and attention to details like intricate cuffs, embroidery accents and even sparkles, elevate the shirts from basic to bananas.
And, since every shirt needs a denim complement, P-Jai’s carries Justin Timberlake’s William Rast jeans, Big Star, LTB and Cult of Individuality.
P-Jai’s also scored the exclusive pop art line Desigual from Spain and carries conservative Cole Haan shoes as well as the far more flamboyant Italian Giorgio Brutini line of shoes. Short on subtlety but long on eye-catching touches, the accessories include WD London and Thora Walton cufflinks and celeb-favorite belts and belt buckles from Leather Island.
P-Jai's is meant to be fun. On the day I stopped in, I thought I had happened onto a party, as Beyonce’s live version of “All the Single Ladies” was playing and the gaggle of male shoppers were having a good time perusing the store.
Just as with women’s boutiques that encourage multiple shopping trips by offering easy price points, P-Jai's keeps the store affordable. The sizing is also generous and the store outfits men who favor form-fitting graphic T’s and larger easy-to-wear button-downs.
Keep an eye on the store's Facebook page for monthly party information, sale scoop and must-have news.
