L'Oreal pulls Shu Uemura: Let the eyelash panic begin
- Shu Uemura's purifying oil is my all-time favorite skincare product — it doublesas cleanser and make-up remover (even waterproof).
- Shu Uemura's eyelash curler is an industry favorite
- This white inner eyeliner adds does what only eight hours of sleep usually can
Fashionistas and make-up artists everywhere are undoubtedly online buying bulk supplies of their Shu Uemura favorites before they disappear completely from United States shelves.
L'Oreal, which has a 20 percent stake in the brand, has decided to end its American distribution to focus on other brands, much to the chagrin of loyal customers like myself who swear by their purifying lotion and eye-brightening white liner.
My best friend is an even more devout devotee and is clamoring to secure Shu Uemura's extravagant mink false lashes. She is, however, on a whole other level.
And although my eyelash-touching phobia prevents me from ever having tried it, the brand's eyelash curler is an industry favorite.
Products can still be purchased in nearly 20 other countries, with most business being done in Asia. You can still order their products online, but I'll be making a detour at Neiman's on my way home.
