Andrew Gn charms while Becca basks in the spotlight as style icon at Passion forFashion luncheon
Leave it to Becca Cason Thrash to glow in an Oscar-worthy tribute for her starring role as honoree at the Houston Community College Passion for Fashion luncheon, held at Wortham Theater Center. The 11-minute video with heaps of praise from fashion world notables seemed to fly by as the audience viewed a kaleidoscope of La Becca in all manner of fabulous fashion.
Chairs Rosemarie Johnson and Melissa Mithoff pulled out the stops for their good friend to create one of the most professional charity videos we've seen.
The luncheon salute to Becca was actually a double-header that also starred designer of international-renown Andrew Gn, who brought along a selection of his fall/winter designs for all to see in an informal presentation. The honoree was, of course, dressed in sophisticated, ladylike Gn as were luncheon chairs.
"All of you are so well-dressed . . . it's such a pleasure to my eyes to see all the ladies so dressed up," said Gn.
Throughout the video, Becca was noted not only for her fashion savvy but also for her charitable fundraising efforts that have brought in millions for non-profits ranging from the Louvre to Best Buddies to Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera.
Via the video, Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey, Vogue's international editor-at-large Hamish Bowles and designers Naeem Khan and Zac Posenfilled the Grand Foyer of the Wortham with verbal kisses for their Houston friend.
The fast-paced luncheon concluded with a Q&A session. "All of you are so well-dressed . . . it's such a pleasure to my eyes to see all the ladies so dressed up," Gn remarked as he settled in on stage for his interview with Clifford Pugh, CultureMap editor-in-chief, and Becca.
Proceeds from the event benefit the fashion and interior design programs at HCC. Receiving special recognition on this day was Kay King, honored for ther 30 years of leadership in HCC's lifestyle arts and design studies.
Joining the midday salute were TootsiesMickey Rosmarin (who hosted the designer's Houston visit and held a reception for Gn back at the West Ave store), John Thrash, Nidhika Mehta, Paula Fyhr, Liz Glanville, Leisa Holland-Nelson, Diane Lokey Farb, Bobbie Nau, Nancy Littlejohn, Milton Townsend, Jackson Hicks, Matt Johnson and Michael Mithoff.
