Lynn Goode Vintage in Hollywood Square Center
Native Houstonian Lynn Goode certainly has the eye of a collector. Formerly owner of the Lynn Goode Gallery on Colquitt and the Marfa Book Company in West Texas, Goode began selling vintage furnishings last May at her pop-up shop in Montrose. It's turned into a storefront at 3637 West Alabama featuring high-end vintage items with a modernist bent, with distinctive furniture pieces from the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe.
Temple Street Spring Collection at Dao Chloe Dao
Temple Street jewelry designer Ana Mae Holmes is known for combining natural stones and metals to create luxurious yet edgy pieces priced from $100 to $450. Her self-described "tribal-like aesthetic," along with her penchant for using brightly colored stone slices, gives her jewelry a wonderfully unique feel. Holmes debuts the spring collection, featuring pastel tones, at Dao Chloe Dao in Rice Village on March 20.
Basiques Mobile Fitting Truck
Basiques, the brainchild of Sheri Falk, was created as a timeless clothing collection based on the simplicity of French fashion. After eight years as a brick-and-mortar establishment in Uptown Park, Basiques has transitioned to a mobile fitting room to give clients a more personal experience. With sizes ranging from petite to size 16, the fitting truck is available for closet evaluations, girl's night out events and off the rack shopping. Basiques' truck is located at 1670 Post Oak Boulevard on Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To schedule a private appointment, call 713-961-7662.
Club Monaco Houston Flagship at The Galleria
International lifestyle brand Club Monaco recently opened its first Houston flagship store in The Galleria. Located on the second level near Saks Fifth Avenue, the fully-renovated retail space showcases the Makers and Muse signature series, created as a way to highlight the brand's ongoing creative collaborations, including those with Mark McNairy, Rancourt & Co., Wood & Faulk and Terrapin Stationers.
Spring/Summer Collection at Hamilton Shirts
Known for crafting hand-cut and hand-sewn shirts for more than a century, Hamilton Shirts recently introduced the spring/summer 2014 men's collection. Including the brand's ready-to-wear line, Hamilton 1883 and 21 new fabrics from their collaborative Western-shirt collection with Lyle Lovett, the new collection boasts a number of bright but classic shirts in stripe, check and plaid prints, as well as solid-colors with uncommon texturing, available at the shirtmaker's 5700 Richmond store.
Small Leather Goods Collection at Miu Miu
Miu Miu, the hip fashion brand from Prada, recently launched a gorgeous new collection of small leather goods featuring the brand's structural gold "tuc lock." The pieces are simple yet modern with a variety of bright color options. Check out the new collection at the Miu Miu boutique in The Galleria.
After more than 15 years in The Galleria, Cartier is setting up shop temporarily at the exclusive St. Regis Hotel on March 28. The luxury French jeweler will occupy space in the hotel for a few months while construction commences on a temporary store at 2031 Post Oak Boulevard. A permanent Houston store is planned to open in the summer of 2015 at a yet-to-be-disclosed location.
InStyle Magazine and Nine West Collaboration Event at The Galleria
A cool collaboration between InStyle Magazine and Nine West launches at the Nine West Galleria store March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. This will be the first time the stylish new collection — which features shoes, jewelry and handbags — will be available in Houston. Polo clothing and equipment retailer Casablanca recently opened their its first U.S. store in Uptown Park. The Argentinean brand, recognized as the world's foremost retailer of polo equipment and apparel, is known for selling everything from classic polo shirts and quilted jackets to leather saddles and bridles. It's located at 1131 Uptown Park Boulevard.
Double Bag from Prada
Prada recently unveiled its newest "it" handbag: the Double Bag. The Italian fashion house launched the fresh tote-like silhouette, complete with two large internal pockets separated by a smaller middle pocket. The structured bag comes in many colors, including a number of pastel shades that are perfect for any spring wardrobe. Available online and at the Prada Galleria boutique.
