Spring break is a good time to shop, help out a good cause or adopt a pet
It seems Spring Break is in effect for many of us, but there’s still places to shop, people to see and money to raise this week.
Dana Davis at Nordstrom
We all love the look of a sexy high-heeled shoe, but let’s be honest, the minute no one is looking, we kick those suckers off and breathe a sigh of relief. Shoe designer Dana Davis knows just how you feel and her collection of modern, sexy and just plain comfortable shoes is a breath of fresh air for those of us who suffer for beauty. Davis is stopping by Nordstrom Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a trunk show introducing her Spring/Summer collection.
Splash into Spring
Women of Wardrobe is thinking swim season with its Splash into Spring fundraiser Saturday. La Mode and M2M are sending swimsuits down the runway and the always entertaining Photo Con Queso's Photo Booth will be on hand for pictures you may regret in the morning. Bites, tequila and live music are included in the $10 donation which benefits Dress for Success Houston. The party starts at 7 p.m. at the art gallery at 4411 Montrose.
Discounts at J. Crew
Most teachers and students are Spring Breaking it this week and for those doing some shopping, J. Crew retail or Factory Outlet stores are offering a 15 percent discount to teachers and college students. Just show your official ID for the discount. J. Crew stores are located in The Galleria and The Woodlands and a Factory Outlet store is in Katy Mills Mall.
Adopt a pet at Kiehl's
While out and about, do something good for four-legged friends everywhere. Kiehl's in Highland Village is holding a fundraiser and pet adoption event Saturday through March 27 letting shoppers support Buster's Friends, an organization that helps homeless animals right here in Houston. Kiehl's hearts pets and features Equine and Canine lines and even has treats on hands for the pooches who pop by with their two-legged counterparts.
From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Buster's Friends will have animals in the store ready for adoption. Those who donate $10 or more to the charity any time throughout the week at Kiehl's walk away with either a tube of body moisturizer for themselves or Spray-and-Play cleansing spritz for their favorite pooch.
